About Josh
I’m a documentary wedding photographer based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, covering weddings across the UK. My photographic journey began back in 2016 while selling cameras at a popular electronics retailer. Spending my days learning how cameras worked quickly snowballed into a full-blown obsession, and before long I’d picked up my dad’s camera, taken it travelling, and started honing my craft.
In 2017, I began studying at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). Being “the guy with the camera” naturally led to photographing gigs, performances and live events. I found myself shooting everywhere from nightclubs and festivals to theatres, bars and art galleries. These fast-paced environments taught me how to work confidently in challenging light, anticipate moments, and tell stories as they unfold — skills that now form the foundation of my documentary wedding photography.
I’m always drawn to great locations and real moments, working right in the middle of the action to capture images that feel honest, atmospheric and full of life.
So why weddings? I’ve always loved photographing a wide range of subjects — people, grand interiors, landscapes, music and nightlife — and weddings felt like the perfect progression. A wedding day naturally brings all of these elements together, making it ideal for story-driven, documentary-style photography.
My partner has also played a huge part in shaping how I work. Documenting our own lives (as proud parents to a very spoilt dog) has reinforced how important it is to preserve genuine connection and emotion. That’s exactly what I aim to do for every couple I work with.
If you’re looking for a wedding photographer in Shropshire, the surrounding areas, or anywhere else in the UK, I’d love to hear from you.
What is my style? A big fan of cinema, I approach weddings with a cinematic mindset — creating images that feel like stills from a film. Great people, beautiful locations and real emotion are the perfect ingredients.
My style leans firmly towards documentary wedding photography: capturing moments as they naturally happen, without forcing or staging the day. I aim to be unobtrusive, blending into the background, but I’m always there when guidance or lightly directed shots are needed. The result is a relaxed, authentic visual story of your wedding day.
The best way to see this is through my work — feel free to explore my portfolio to get a real sense of my approach.
